Description
Buffalo Point offers campsites with water and electricity and the only restaurant within the park. Two popular attractions within the Buffalo Point Area are the Indian Rockhouse Trail and the Rush Historic District. Rush was a zinc mining community until the bottom fell out of the zinc market and the settlement became a ghost town. Buffalo Point is the former Buffalo River State Park, developed in the 1930s as project of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Information is available at either of the two Buffalo Point Information Stations. The upper station is open year round and the campground station is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. You will find a wild free flowing and unpolluted river that passes towering bluffs and wilderness areas dominated by vast hardwood forest most of the visitor season. Canoeing, kayaking, rafting and hiking are permitted. Additional campground information can be provided at 870-449-4311.
For additional information for the local area, please contact the Convention of Visitor Bureau at 870-741-1789. Convention of Visitor Bureau website TEST
