Description
Situated along the edge of Green Ridge and more than 2,000 feet above the Metolius River, this 20 foot tall circa 1960 fire lookout offers Unmatched views of Mt. Jefferson and the Metolius River basin. The lookout has a 14'X14'R6 type cab equipped with basic necessities. Included are; a futon that sleeps two, a three burner propane stove with oven, small propane refrigerator, solar lights, table and chairs, basic cooking and eating utensils, propane heaters and basic cleaning supplies. The lower observation deck, located just below the cab, has a picnic table and ample room to set up your favorite camp/travel chairs. THERE IS NO WATER AVAILABLE HERE so bring enough for drinking, cooking, cleaning, and washing dishes. The maximum capacity for the lookout is four people but remember that there are only sleeping accommodations for two (the futon) so others will have to bring their own. A primitive vault toilet is located above the parking lot. Because this is an active fire lookout, staffed by volunteers from the local community, it is not available for public use during the months of July, August, and early September.
