BIG LARCH CAMPGROUND (MT)

Description
Big Larch Campground is located 1 mile north of the town of Seeley Lake via Highway 83 on the west side of the highway. The only sites available for reservation are group camp sites (Unit A & Unit B). Reservations can be made no less than 4 days in advance and up to 360 days in advance. The elevation of this campground is about 4000 feet. General campground facilities include: day-use area, beach, swimming area (no lifeguard), picnic area, boat ramp and boat trailer parking, handicap accessible vault toilets, potable water, garbage dumpsters, recycling bins, interpretive programs and an interpretive trail. The area is monitored by on-site campground hosts and has multiple daily law enforcement patrols. Unit A has approximately 6 vehicle parking spaces (based on head-in or diagonal parking; parking area dimensions 57 feet wide and 25 feet deep)with about 4 tent spaces. A maximum of 25 people are allowed. Amenities at the site include 3 picnic tables and 2 firerings (1 handicap accessible table and 1 handicap accessible firering). Unit B has approximately 9 vehicle parking spaces (based on head-in or diagonal parking; parking area dimensions 84 feet wide and 28 feet deep) with about 4 tent spaces. A maximum of 25 people are allowed. Amenities at the site include 3 picnic tables and 2 firerings (1 handicap accessible table and 1 handicap accessible firering). 48 standard family sites are also available on a first-come first-served basis. These sites are limited to a maximum of 10 people per standard site, with parking for vehicles limited to the designated parking pad for the site. Note: There is limited access during the winter months as snowplowing is done on an intermittent basis and only from the entrance directly to the boat launch for winter recreation access. Directions
From the junction of Montana Highway 200 and Montana Highway 83 (referred to locally as Clearwater Junction), travel north on Highway 83 for approximately 15 miles to the town of Seeley Lake, continue heading north on Highway 83 for 1 mile, the entrance of Big Larch Campground is located on the west side of the highway

MONTURE GUARD STATION CABIN (MT)

Description
Monture Guard Station Cabin is located approximately 8 miles north of the town of Ovando, Montana via Forest Road #89 (Monture Creek Road). The elevation of this cabin site is 4200 feet. This area offers winter recreation opportunities for both motorized and non-motorized recreation. East of the cabin across Monture Creek is a large area closed to motorized use yearlong (map available). The motorized closure area can represent a great opportunity for solitude to snowshoers and cross-country skiers alike, looking for the less disturbed snow paths than groomed trails. Snowmobile users can access the large groomed trail system that the Seeley Lake area boasts right at the gate entrance to the Monture Guard Station. The cabin facilities include: kitchen utensils, skillets, pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups & glasses; propane range/oven(conventional home- style unit), small microwave, & refrigerator; propane heater; large wooden table with 10 chairs; leather couch & loveseat with end tables, lamps & large area rug; office desk/chair-telephone for local & calling card calls only; 8 twin size cot/beds with mattress protector covering (all of which are located on the second floor via a narrow enclosed stairway); cleaning supplies- broom/dustpan, mop, dust mop, vacuum cleaner, RV antifreeze for sink drain; fire extinguishers & smoke alarms; first aid kit located in kitchen. This cabin holds a maximum of 8 people. There is electricity throughout the cabin. The heat is provided by a propane heater.(no wood stove) There is a standing hand water hydrant right off the porch.

Monture Guard Station Cabin is located approximately 8 miles north of the town of Ovando, Montana via Forest Road #89 (Monture Creek Road). The elevation of this cabin site is 4200 feet. General directions:From the Junction of MT Highway 83 and MT Hwy 200 (locally known as Clearwater Junction) travel east on Hwy 200 for 12.5 miles. Turn north on FS Road #89 (Monture Creek Road) and go 7.5 miles, cross the bridge over Monture Creek and proceed veering slightly to the left for about 100 yards to a small parking area (just a small plowed out area on the right for about 2-3 vehicles). Another parking area is available just before the bridge on the left (across from the entrance to the Monture Creek Campground area). Please remember this a multiple use area, mushers, skiers, snowmobilers,and other winter recreationist use this area and park vehicles in both of the areas suggested so it could get congested from time to time. From either of thess parking spots you can take off on yours skis, snowshoes or snowmobile to traverse down the snowmobile trail to the entrance of the Monture Guard Station area. Enter thru the gate that is staked open (wide enough for a snowmobile); proceed up the entrance road directly to the cabin. The total distance from the parking area to the cabin is approximately 1 mile. The winter entrance to the cabin is on the rear (east side) of the cabin - this is where you will find the combination lock for access into the cabin.
