Campsites are only accessible by 4x4 vehicles via sand (soft) road. Site is identified by numbered post. Camp within 150 ft of post; standard site limited to 5 vehicles/20 people, group site limited to 10 vehicles/40 people. Stop at corridor fee station and complete Sand Camping Permit. From Reedsport Oregon, travel 2 miles south to Winchester Bay. Turn west on Salmon Harbor Drive. Proceed 4 miles to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Access east either at boundary, 2nd Beach Parking Sand Access, or 3rd Beach Parking Sand Access.
Description
The 60 unit Loon Lake Campground is within a beautiful Douglas-fir forest. Loon Lake covers 260 acres, is 2 miles long, and 190 ft. deep We have picnicking, camping, a sandy beach, fishing, boating, interpretive programs, flush toilets and hot showers. Our season starts the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend and goes until the end of November. MORE INFORMATION: During the summer months, you can contact the park staff at the entrance booth by calling 541-599-2254. During the winter months, you can contact the Park Manager at 541-751-4241.

Interstate 5 in Oregon, take the Drain exit S. of Cottage Grove, travel 43 miles W. on State Hwy. 38, to Mill Creek Rd., 4 miles W. of Scottsburg. From US Hwy. 101 and Reedsport, travel 13 miles E. on State Hwy. 38 to Mill Creek Rd. Watch for Loon Lake Recreation Area sign On Hwy. 38; it is between milepost markers 13 and 14. Turn S. onto Mill Creek Rd., travel 7 miles to the Recreation Area; the entrance is on the right, between the large boulders.
