Description
Prineville Reservoir and Arthur R. Bowman Dam are features of the Crooked River Project. Recreation at the 3,030-acre reservoir is located 15 miles south of Prineville. Available species include largemouth and smallmouth bass, rainbow trout, brown bullhead, and crappie. Season open year-round. Reservoir acre feet and total reservoir capacity and cubic feet/second release rates for rivers below Deschutes River Basin reservoirs and select river locations are updated daily and graphically provided.
Directions
Good access to north side of reservoir via Juniper Canyon Rd. South side and lower end of reservoir access via scenic drive up the Crooked River and over Bowman Dam. Turn off U.S. 26 in town of Prineville to reach both routes.
Description
Walton Lake group sites are great for family outings, club or other group campouts. Ideal for 15 to 35 campers. Parking areas are meant for 4-6 vehicles. Potable water not piped into the site. Three tables and one fire ring at group sites. Three to four RVs can be accommodated; there are several tent pitching spots available. Closest store is 25-30 miles away.
Directions
Located east of Highway 26 on Forest Road 22. Go north from Prineville 16 miles to Jct of Highway 26 and Ochoco Ranger Station Road. Proceed nine miles north-northeast to FS road 22. FS road 42 also starts here; take the left turn up FS 22 some seven miles to lake. All paved road.
