Description
Located in Pinecrest, CA in the Stanislaus National Forest, at an elevation of 5600' on Pinecrest Lake, 30 miles east of Sonora. Pinecrest Recreation Area has the following facilities: pay showers, marina for docking/renting boats, grocery store, post office, restaurant/bar, sport shop, free boat launch, horse back riding facilities within driving distance. Dogs are not encouraged, and must be on a leash and attended at all times. Open year round. Peak season, May 13 - September 12, 2005, can be reserved. Campground gates open pre and post peak season (weather permitting), approximately April 18 - May 12 and September 13 - October 12, on a first- come, first-serve basis only. Winter camping when the gates are closed, mid-October through mid-April, is available. However, no campground services are open, and a limited number of Forest Service facilities remain open. For more information on free winter camping, when the campground gates are closed, please e-mail camp@dodgeridge.com. Groups of 25 or larger (fee of $1 per person) need to obtain a winter camping permit through camp@dodgeridge.com. Early check-in is not guaranteed. Your site may be occupied by another party the night before your arrival. All reserved campsite(s) must be slept in starting the first night of the reservation. Official check-in time is 2:00 pm. Maximum of 6 people per site strictly enforced. Maximum of 3 tents or 1 RV/Trailer per site. Maximum of 2 vehicles per site (RV's included) as long as they fit on the blacktop of the parking pad. No guarantee that two vehicles will fit, especially if there is a trailer as well. Free overflow parking available.

From Sonora, take Highway 108 east for 30 miles, take the Pinecrest exit.
