Capsicum California Wonder (USDA Organic) Pepper, Capsicum 'California Wonder', is great for stuffing, but tasty enough for salads, 'California Wonder' is an excellent sweet bell for cold climates. In longer season climates, peppers turn bright red after maturing. More vitamin C than an orange! It is a good container variety. These peppers are thick-walled and blocky, about 4 inches tall and wide, with a crisp, mild flavor and terrific sweetness. This pepper originated in Mexico and the neighboring areas of Central America. Capsicum refers to a wide variety of tropical pepper plants with the genus of the same name. The name is perhaps derived from the Latin ""capsa,"" or box for the pod-like fruit. They are also frequently used both chopped and raw in salads, or cooked in stir-fries or other mixed dishes. They can be sliced into strips and fried, roasted whole or in pieces, or chopped and incorporated into salsas or other sauces. Capsicum is a relative of the tomato and requires similar growing conditions.
