Description
Here is an opportunity to stay in an easily accessed CCC log cabin just 100 yards off the highway in a deep woods setting of lodgepole pine. The setting is very quiet. Highway noise is minimal. Located at Kings Hill Pass at an elevation of 7600', this cabin is just 2 miles from Showdown Ski Area. Open all year, the cabin provides access to all kinds of quiet and motorized recreation opportunities.
You'll need to bring your own bedding and food. There is electricity, so there are electric lights, a refrigerator, and an electric stove. The cabin is two rooms. There are three bunk beds, a dining table and chairs, pots and pans, and dishes. Heating is from a wood stove. Firewood is provided.
Snowshoes are available for loan at the Belt Creek Ranger Station located at 4234 US Highway 89 North. The station is located between the towns of Neihart and Monarch. Their hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Directions
From Great Fall travel about 23 miles to the east on Highway 87/89 and turn left (south) at the Rest Area/Weigh Station just past Belt onto US Highway 89 to Monarch and Neihart. Go about 50 miles to Kings Hill Pass. The cabin is on the left side of the highway just before you reach the pass(within 300' of the pass). Parking is in the widespot along the highway. This is plowed during the winter. Total distance from Great Falls is about 75 miles.
Travellers from White Sulphur Springs go east on Highway 12 about 3 miles and turn left(north) onto U.S. Highway 89. The cabin is just past Kings Hill Pass on your right. Total distance from White Sulphur Springs is 28.5 miles.
