5 miles from town of Summerhaven. Ponderosa pine forest. Elelvation 8000 ft. Gas 26 mi. Public phone 2 mi. at Palisades Visitor center. Hiking trails nearby. Potable water, electricity available at each ramada *(a ramada is a primitive shelter)* Trash service, vault toilets available. Group sites only, day or overnight use. Small RVs may park in parking lot. RVs not allowed to hook up to water or electric.
Catalina Mt. Fee Demo Pass required for many other points of interest in the forest in this area.
Directions
Go north on Catalina Highway approximately 30 miles from Tucson until you reach Milepost 20. Turn left on Whitetail Road.
