Located in the Old Ninety-Six Tourism area in South Carolina, Mt. Carmel Campground is remote and quiet. Many of the campground's sites are a stone's throw from the shoreline at Thurmond Lake. Twenty-one of the sites are equipped with electric and water. The remaining 22 sites are for tent camping. Two boat launching ramps are near by, one just outside and one inside the campground for campers only. Locally known as Hesters Bottom, Mt. Carmel provides a perfect place for campers who truly want to get-away-from-it-all. Mount Carmel is in the Old Ninety-Six tourism area in South Carolina. Mt. Carmel Campground is remote and quiet. There are 2 boat launching ramps nearby, one just outside and one inside the campground for campers only. Locally known as Hesters Bottom, Mt. Carmel provides a perfect place for campers to get away from it all. Visitor hours end at 9:30pm. Check-in time is 3pm and check-out time is 2pm. Late check-out may result in the charge of an additional night's camping fee.

From I-85, take Exit 11 near Hartwell Lake, and take Savannah River Scenic From I-85: Take Exit 56 near Hartwell Lake, and take Savannah River Highway (Hwy 24, to Hwy 187, to Highway 81) S 51 mi. The campground is 9 Scenic Highway south about 51 miles. The campground is about 9 miles mi S of Calhoun Falls, SC. Turn left at campground sign. From I-20, take first exit to River Watch Parkway. Turn right; drive 2 mi to Furys Ferry south of Calhoun Falls, SC. Turn right at the campground sign. Road (Hwy. 28 West). Turn right; drive 13 mi to Clarks Hill, SC. Continue From I-20: Take exit 200 to River Watch Parkway. Turn right; drive northwest on Hwy 28/221 to McCormick, SC. Go NW 15 mi on Hwy 28, turning 2 miles to Furys Ferry Road. Turn right; drive 13 miles to Clarks Hill. on to Hwy 81, 5 mi N of McCormick. Campground sign is in Mt. Carmel, SC. Continue northwest on Highway 28/221 to McCormick. Go northwest 15 miles Follow road to campground. on Highway 28, turning onto Highway 81, 5 miles north of McCormick. Campground sign is in Mt. Carmel. Follow road to campground.
