MOUNT MORRIS DAM
Description
Mount Morris Dam, NY is a "dry dam" located in the scenic Genesee River Gorge next to Letchworth State Park. The main purpose is to provide flood control to downstream areas, which include the City of Rochester. <p>The William B. Hoyt II Visitor Center offers exhibits and a short video convey information about the history, purpose and operations of Mount Morris Dam. Other exhibits emphasize the dam's natural, recreational, archeological, and cultural resources. For more information and updates on Visitor Center activities, visit our web site! Visitor Center Hours of Operation: Hours of Operation for 2005: January 9, 2006 through April 30, 2006: Monday through Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Closed Sundays. Dam tours by appointment only. <p> May 1, 2006 through May 26, 2006: Open seven days a week 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Dam Tours Friday through Sunday 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. Additional tours provided by appointment.<p> May 26, 2006 through September 4, 2006: Open seven days a week 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. Dam Tours Monday through Thursday at 2:00 pm, Friday through Sunday 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.
