Description
Located on Highway 285 at 10,000 feet elevation, Kenosha Pass Campground is a family and outdoor enthusiast delight. It is situated among ponderosa pine and aspen trees, making each season special. The Colorado Trail which starts outside of Denver and ends in Durango runs adjacent to the campground. Across the highway are a wetland interpretive area and the remnants of the South Park and Pacific Railroad wye (Y). 'Helper' engines from either Webster on the east or Como on the west side of Kenosha Pass assisted the regular engine in getting the train to the top and then used the Y to turn around and head back down the hill. Kenosha Pass Campground is also 20 miles north of historic Fairplay, CO and 10 miles north of Jackson Lake which is known for its great fishing.
Directions
From Denver, travel south on Highway 285 through Pine Junction and Bailey. Continue 17.5 miles past Bailey on Highway 285 to Kenosha Pass Campground at the summit of Kenosha Pass. The campground is on the right side of the highway.
