Proximity: Lowman, Stanley, Bear Valley, Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. Environment: Remote Guard Station in Bear Valley. Located in high meadow adjacent to Elk Creek and the Frank Church Wilderness. Elevation is 6400 feet. Summer temperatures are 70-80 degrees during the days with cool nights. Winter highs are usually in the 20s to 30s, with lows averaging -15 to +5 degrees. Attributes: Located in mountain meadow along scenic Elk Creek. Beautiful scenery. Deep snow during winter months. Two rental cabins in remote area. No water or electric. Wood heat (firewood is provided in wood shed). Thirty miles of groomed snowmobile trails, many open meadows for snowmobiling. Activities: Winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling. Restrictions: Tent, RV or trailer camping not permitted on site. Garbage policy is strictly "pack-in/pack-out". No water or electricity. Access the cabin is by snowmobile or X-C skiing (15 miles from Highway 21). Campfires outside of cabins not permitted. No livestock (such as horses or mules) permitted. Pets must be under restrictive control at all times. Customer is responsible for cleaning up after pets. Snowmobiles are not permitted in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness.
Directions
From Lowman drive east on Highway 21 approximately 40 miles to Cape Horn. Park in the plowed parking and snowmobile/ski/snowshoe on the the Landmark Stanley Road (FS579) for approximately 15 miles into Elk Creek. Alternate access from the Boise area if Highway 21 is closed between Grandjean and Banner Summit: From Lowman snowmobile north on the Clear Creek Road (FS582) for approximately 34 miles. Go west on the Landmark Stanley Road for approximatley 3 miles to the Cabin. Depending on grooming conditions alternate routes may be available. Take a map and know how to use it. Check local conditions.

Winter highs are usually in the 20s and 30s, with low averaging -10 to +10 degrees. Attributes: Hot springs within 1 mile from cabin. Beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife. Adjacent to South Fork of the Payette River. Single cabin in remote area; one double bed and 4 single cots with mattresses and provided, bring your own bedding. There is a wood heat stove. Firewood is provided in the barn, it may need to be split. Vault toilet outside. Some pots and pans provided. Snow can be melted for drinking water. Bring a lantern for light. Bring a propane cook stove for cooking. Activities: Winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing. Restrictions: Tent, RV or trailer camping not permitted on site. Garbage policy is strictly "pack-in/pack out". No water or electricity. Access to the cabin is by snowshoe or X-C skiing only (no motorized vehicles). Campfires outside of cabin are not permitted. No livestock (such as horses or mules) permitted. Use is limited to a maximum of 6 persons. Pets must be under restrictive control at all times. Customer is responsible for cleaning up after pets.
Directions
From Boise take Highway 21 northeast, 75 miles to Lowman, Idaho. Continue on Highway 21 another 18 miles. At MM 91.2 turn left into the plowed parking lot. Hike/snowshoe/ski approximately 1.5 miles west to Cabin. From Banks: Turn right off Highway 55 onto Highway 17, drive 40 miles into Lowman. Turn left onto highway 21 and go approximately 18 miles east to MM 91.2. Park at the plowed parking on the left. Hike/snowshoe/ski approximately 1.5 miles west to the cabin.
