Description
The site consists of a large shelter with fireplace and numerous stationary and mobile picnic tables. Four vault toilets are close by the shelter. Several fire pits and elevated barbeques are near the shelter. A one acre field adjoins this picnic site. A swim beach and boat launch are located approsimately 1/4 mile from the site. A large paved parking lot is available. The site is gated for security of rental parties.
Directions
From Libby, travel 15 miles northeast on State Highway 37. Turn west on Forest Development Road 228 and follow for 10 miles to the site.
Description
The site consists of 11 campsites, all with picnic tables, fire pits and parking pads. There are 4 pre-cast concrete vault toilets on site. There are 3 separate picnic sites with large fire pits, large picnic tables, and large parking areas. The largest picnic area has a 20' x 24' shelter, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, elevated barbeque, and a one acre play field. All sites have easy access to drinking water. The whole site is surrounded by a one mile hiking trail. A large stream (Pipe Creek) flows by the site. The site is gated for security of facilities.
Directions
From Libby, cross the Kootenai River Bridge and turn north onto Pipe Creek Road 68 (which leads to the town of Yaak and Turner Mountain Ski Area). Travel 8 miles to the gate, approximately 1 mile past the community of Pipe Creek.
