Description
Ninko is available from Dec 1st through March 31st each winter. The cabin is not available for April 1 to Nov 30. Ninko Cabin is located 45 miles north of Columbia Falls, MT on the North Fork Road. Access involves an 12mile hike, snowshoe, ski, or snowmobile to the cabin from the North Fork Road.
Ninko has rustic accomodations including propane cook stove, lights, small refrigerator, wood stove, and vault toilet. Renters should pack their own bedding and drinking water. Ninko's party size is 7 with two bunk beds and a small loft. Please pack out what you brought including your garbage. Grizzly bears live in the area; store your food, beverages, coolers, and garbage inside the cabin. Pets are not allowed at Ninko. Polebridge Merchentile is located 10 miles south of Ninko and has a limited supplies. The cabin is available from December 1 to March 31st. Commercial use of the cabins is prohibited (outfitter guides, groups or organizations with compensated leaders/chaperones).
Directions
Ninko Cabin is located 45 miles north of Columbia Falls, MT up the North Fork Road (County Road #486). To find the North Fork Road take Nucleus Avenue north through Columbia Falls, turn east on Railroad Street at the stop sign, this becomes the North Fork Road as it travels over the railroad overpass. Turn west on #318 Whale Creek Road, park in the plowed pullout near the entrance of the Whale Creek road. Park at the end of the plowing and ski, snowshoe, or snowmobile from this point approximately 7 miles to the gated road #10832, travel northwest on this road approximately 2 miles to Ninko Cabin. Signs are posted along the way. The North Fork Road is gravel, rough in spots, and intermittently plowed during the winter months. 4 wheel drive and chains are recommended during winter.

Access involves an 8 mile hike, snowshoe, or snowmobile to the cabin.

Challenge Cabin is located 51 miles east of Hungry Horse, MT on US Highway 2, then eight miles south on Skyland Road #569. Park in the plowed area along US Highway 2, then hike, snowmobile, ski, or snowshoe the eight miles to the cabin along the groomed snowmobile trail. You cannot drive to Challenge Cabin.
