Description
Platte River Campground has both first-come, first-served sites and reservable sites. Approximately 1/3 of the campsites are reservable. Loops 1, 2, and 3 have electrical hook-ups.
Loop 1 is open year round on a first-come, first-served basis. Loops 2, 3 & 4 and the Walk-In Loop are open from late April until mid-October. From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, all of Loop 3, part of Loop 4, and several Walk-In sites are on the reservation system and are reservable up to six months in advance.
Group campsites are open from the first Friday in May through early October, and are available only by reservation up to one year in advance.
Campers making reservations for electric campsites (in Loop 3) pay only the regular campsite fee at the time of reservation. The park collects the additional $5 per night per electric campsite when the visitor arrives at the campground.
Directions
From the East (Traverse City): Take Highway M-72 west to Empire. Turn south on Highway M-22. Proceed 10 miles and turn right on Lake Michigan Road. Follow the signs to Platte River Campground.
From the South (US-31/M-115): At the junction of US-31 and M-115, continue north for 7 miles. Turn left on Platte Road. Proceed 5 miles and turn right on M-22 Proceed one mile and turn left on Lake Michigan Road. Follow the signs to Platte River Campground.
