Fort Gibson Lake is located along the Grand (Neosho) River and is nestled in the hills of eastern Oklahoma. The lake draws its name from historic Fort Gibson, which played a prominent part in the military history of early day Oklahoma. A reconstructed log stockade stands on the site of the first log fort, and volunteers reenact the lifestyle of the late 1800s for various events throughout the year. Now a National Historic Landmark, the stockade is owned by the State of Oklahoma and is open to the public year round. Dam Site is one of 6 campgrounds on Fort Gibson Lake that is reservable through Reserve America. Reservations are available April 1 through September 30.
