Located in the Pioneer Mountains, this cabin is especially popular with cross-country skiers and summer hiking enthusiasts. Trails leaving the cabin will take hikers to lakes in the Pioneer Mountains. There are two popular ski trails adjacent to Birch Creek: the Birch Creek Loop and the May Lake Ski Trail. From Dillon, take Interstate 15 north 12 miles to the Apex exit, where you Turn west and travel the Birch Creek gravel road for 7 ???????? miles to the Western Montana Environmental Center turnoff. (Depending on snow conditions, you may have to park At this turnoff.) Cross the bridge and take the first turn right on the Thief Creek Road.
