Almanor South Campground will be open from May 15th to September 6th, 2004. Located 12 miles outside the town of Chester, CA on the west shore of Lake Almanor. Elevation - 4525 feet Mixed coniferous forest. Average temperature May-Aug. 45-90 degrees Sept.-Oct. 25-75 degrees Vault toilets, flush toilet at boat ramp, limited parking. From the town of Chester, take Hwy 36 for 2 miles west to junction of Hwy 36 and Hwy 89. Go 4 miles and turn left directly across from the Rest Area. Go 1 mile and turn right into the Almanor South Campground.
