Description
Carolina Hemlocks Shelter is located adjacent to the Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area. All campsites are on a first come, first serve basis. There is one picnic pavilion available for rental. Reservations must be made 4 days in advance.
*IMPORTANT*
For MONDAY - FRIDAY: Shelter may be reserved for 1/2 day: 9:00AM - 3:30PM OR 4:00PM - 9:30PM.
For SATURDAY & SUNDAY Shelter MUST be rented for the FULL DAY: 9:00AM - 9:30PM.
NOTE:Please follow the instructions in section Alerts and Web Important Information in order to make reservation for FULL DAY on SATURDAY and SUNDAY

From Asheville, NC: Take I-26 W to x 9, onto 19E to Burnsville. Follow 19E to Micaville on Hwy 80S. Follow Hwy 80S approximately 8 miles to the Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area.
From Johnson City, TN: Take I-26E to NC x 9, onto 19E to Burnsville. Follow 19E to Micaville on Hwy 80S. Follow Hwy 80S approximately 8 miles to the Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area.
From I-40W: Take x 86 onto Hwy 226N to Marion, NC. Continue toward Spruce Pine until you reach the Blue Ridge Parkway. Take the Parkway south to Hwy 80, approximately 12 miles. Follow Hwy 80N toward Burnsville approximately 9 miles to Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area.
From I-40E: Take Hwy 70 through Old Fort, NC to Hwy 226N to Marion, NC. Continue toward Spruce Pine until you reach the Blue Ridge Parkway. Take the Parkway south to Hwy 80, approximately 12 miles. Follow Hwy 80N toward Burnsville approximately 9 miles to Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area.
Description
Briar Bottom Group is adjacent to Black Mountain Campground. Access is available through the main gate at Black Mountain Campground. Nearby to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Mount Mitchell State Park. This is a tent only campground. No wheeled camping units and / or RV's permitted. Limited parking available.
