The Astilbe ‘Country and Western’, Astilbe arendsii 'Country and Western' (PP14969), is a colorful feathery flower with bright puffy pink blooms and shiny deep green foliage. Country and Western is part of the new Music series of Astilbes which are known for their large puffy blooms. The flowers contrast wonderfully with the dark green glossy foliage. Astilbe ‘Country and Western’ blooms in early summer.
Astilbes are grown most successfully in rich soil and under partial sun. The biggest key to successful growth of your Astilbes is water....they require a lot of water. The soil must remain moist. If the soil drys out the plant will falter quickly, especially in the sun. Wait to cut the foilage back until spring as that will protect the plant during the winter. Fertilize Astilbes in late spring before the flowers emerge. Astilbes can be used as cut flowers, perennial borders or shade gardens with Hosta’s and Ferns.
